Customizing Boca tickets
Last updated: May 4, 2020
Boca tickets can come in various sizes and styles. In some cases, you may want to customize the layout, contents, and print settings of your tickets, or even create multiple layouts to use with different types of tickets. This can be done directly in FareHarbor.
Creating a ticket layout
With ticket layouts, you can save one or more ticket settings directly in FareHarbor and apply those settings when printing your tickets.
Create and manage ticket layouts by going to your Dashboard’s main settings and selecting Boca Tickets from the menu.
Don’t see this option? Contact FareHarbor Support to turn on Boca ticket customization.
To create a new ticket layout:
- Go to Settings > Boca Tickets.
- Select the New ticket layout button.
- Add a name and create your ticket layout. You’ll be taken to the settings page for your new layout.
- Edit your ticket settings as needed, and save your changes.

Ticket layout options
Ticket content
- Show company information: Your company name, phone number, and website is included on the ticket by default. To remove this information, uncheck the box next to Include company information.
Show custom fields: If you’d like, you can include pertinent customer information on tickets using custom fields. Check the box for Show custom fields, search for the field you’d like to include, and click Add.

Additional notes related to custom fields
- If needed, you can also show custom fields on the ticket stub. To do this, check the box Show custom fields under Ticket stub options.
- Remember, custom fields may be added to some items and not others. If a custom field has not been added to an item, it won’t be shown on the customer’s ticket for that item.
- If a custom field has been made private, it will not be shown on the ticket.
- If an optional custom field has not been filled out, it will not be shown on the ticket. The only exception to this rule is checkbox custom fields, which will always be shown as either “Yes” (if the box has been checked) or “No” (if the box was left unchecked).
- You can add as many custom fields as you’d like, but keep in mind that tickets have limited space. For best results, try to limit the number of custom fields to 1 or 2.
- Per-customer fields are summarized on whole party tickets, but custom fields that apply to the whole booking will not show up on individual customer tickets.
Ticket layout
- Rotate 180°: When this setting is checked, the content of the ticket is rotated 180 degrees (upside down).
Length, Height, and Margins: Use these settings to set the exact measurements of your ticket. This will ensure the contents of your ticket are printed correctly.
Note: Margins must be greater than or equal to 0.03 inches.
- Ticket stub options
- If your tickets are fed into the printer stub-first, use the Leading stub option. If your tickets have stubs on both ends, select both the Leading stub and Trailing stub boxes.
- Set the length and margins of your ticket stub, and optionally choose any custom fields you want to show on the stub.
Printing with a custom ticket layout
- Open the customer’s booking.
- Under Booking actions, select Print.
- Select Boca Format and choose the ticket type you’d like to print.
- The browser’s print window should automatically open. Select Cancel to return to FareHarbor.
Select the gear icon next to the Print button and choose your ticket layout.

Select the Print button to open the browser’s print window.
- In the print window, make sure your ticket printer is selected and the Paper Size is set to the correct ticket size (in Chrome, you’ll find this option under “More settings”).
- Select Print.
Notes
- If you have multiple ticket layouts, the first layout in the list will be used by default when printing. You can reorder your ticket layouts under Settings > Boca Tickets.
- The last used ticket layout will be remembered each time you print a ticket from the same computer. This means that even if you log in as a different user, the system will remember the last used layout when printing tickets. If printing from a different computer, you’ll need to select your preferred ticket layout again.

Adding a custom message to your tickets
You can also add a customized, item-specific message to the bottom of your tickets (for example, if you want to specify when check-in begins). To add a custom message:
- Go to the Items section of your Dashboard.
- Select the item you’d like to add a message for.
- Go to Settings > Info & Policies > Advanced.
Edit the Receipt footer text as needed.

- Select Save changes
The next time you print a ticket for that item, you’ll see your updated receipt footer at the bottom of the ticket.

Enabling QR codes
By including QR codes on your tickets, you can easily check customers in with the FareHarbor App or the camera on your mobile device.

QR codes are enabled per item. This means you can use them for certain items (such as cruises or tours) and not others (such as rentals).
If you are not currently using QR codes and would like to enable them for one or more items, get in touch with FareHarbor Support.
Internal-only content. Don't copy and paste to anyone.
To allow ticket customization on a company’s Dashboard, type Shift + , to go to the advanced settings. Find and enable both the “Boca ticket printing” and “Boca ticket customization” settings. Then go to the user’s permission group and enable the permission “Manage Boca ticket layouts” (located under Setup).
More notes related to custom fields
- If the same custom field has been added at both the customer level and the whole booking level, and you are looking at the whole party ticket, the per-customer answers will be summarized first, followed by the whole-party answer.
- If a quantity field answer is 0, it will not be displayed.
