Redeeming a gift card

If you have permission to manage gift cards, you can redeem a gift card directly from your Dashboard when making a booking. If you do not have this option and would like the ability to redeem gift cards, get in touch with us.
Redeeming a gift card while making a direct booking
You can add a gift card while making a direct booking for a customer, provided there is at least one gift card code generated on your Dashboard prior to making the booking.
To redeem a gift card while making a direct booking:
Select Apply a gift card below the booking total before completing the booking.

Enter the gift card number. Once entered, the balance remaining on the card is displayed. The full amount of the gift card will automatically be applied toward the booking price and tax (this cannot be changed):

You can see a summary of the gift card usage by selecting “Details” next to “Card balance”.
You can also apply a custom amount, by entering it in the field “Amount to use” below “Card balance”. This amount cannot be more than the card balance.
Select Apply. The booking total will be updated to reflect the gift card payment:

Select Complete Booking. The booking overview will show the amount paid using the gift card, as well as any remaining balance owed on the booking:

Redeeming a gift card on an existing booking
To learn how to redeem a gift card for a customer on an existing booking, watch this short demo video or follow the steps below.
- Locate the the completed booking and select Add payment.
- Select the Redeem tab.
Enter the gift card number (note: numbers are case-sensitive).
Optional: Check the Email receipt box to send the customer a receipt.
- Select Redeem Gift Card.
If payment is still owed after redeeming the gift card, add another payment for the remaining amount.
For example: A customer has a gift card for $100 and uses it on an activity that is $100 plus $10 in tax (total = $110). In this case, the customer owes $10.
Notes
For all bookings
Gift card numbers are case- and character-sensitive, meaning you’ll need to input the numbers exactly as they appear on the gift card (including capitalizations and special characters, such as dashes).
If the booking total is less than the amount on the gift card, the customer will be able to apply the remaining amount toward a future booking.
You will only be able to use a gift card if a valid card number is entered. If you enter an invalid card number, a Card not found message will be displayed.
You can see the summary of the gift card transactions by selecting Details next to “Card balance”.
Gift cards cannot be used to purchase another gift card. They can only be used for purchasing tickets to your events or activities.
When creating bookings
The card number cannot be used if the gift card has already been used for a previous booking (a Card already applied message is displayed)
It is not possible to change the booking total when applying a gift card. This means:
- If a booking has a gift card applied, you cannot change its total
- If a booking has a set total, you cannot apply a gift card to it
- In case you want to change the total, you can do so after having applied the gift card and completed the booking.
Internal-only content. Don't copy and paste to anyone.
If a company uses gift certificates instead of gift cards, the process for redeeming will be different. You can send these steps to a client if needed, but we don’t document gift certificates externally because we try to use gift cards whenever possible.
To apply a gift certificate code to a future booking:
- Go to the gift certificate booking and copy the generated code(s) (found above the subtotal).
- Click the +New booking tab on the booking overview and create a booking for the desired date and activity.
- Complete the book form with all necessary information.
- Look for the field labeled “Do you have a gift certificate or promo code?” and enter the code to deduct the value from the tour.
- Complete the booking.
