Updating confirmation notes

Confirmation notes are included as part of the booking confirmation email sent to your customers. They can be set in your company Dashboard settings (for all items), as well as for individual items. This is a useful way to include item-specific information such as what to bring, what to expect, and directions. Item notes will be shown in addition to your company-level notes.
If you find that you need to make changes to your confirmation notes, or simply want to spruce them up a little bit, this guide will walk you through the process.
Updating confirmation notes for a specific item
If confirmation notes have been added for a specific item, they will be shown above your company-level notes in customer emails (unless you have disabled company-level confirmation notes for that item). If no item confirmation notes have been added, only your company-level notes will be shown.
To update an item’s confirmation notes:
- Go to the Items section of your Dashboard.
- Select the item you want to edit.
- Go to Settings > Info & Policies > Notes & Policies.
- Under Item Confirmation Notes, add or update your confirmation notes as needed.
- Optional: Preview what your confirmation notes will look like to customers by clicking Preview Markdown.
- Scroll down and click Save changes.
You can also choose to disable company-level confirmation notes on a specific item. To do this, follow steps 1-3 above, select the checkbox for Hide company confirmation notes, then select Save changes.
Updating confirmation notes for all items
These confirmation notes will be shown in every confirmation email in addition to any item-specific notes, unless you have disabled company-level confirmation notes on a specific item.
To update company-level confirmation notes:
- Go to your Dashboard Settings.
- From the Settings menu, select Info & Policies.
- Under Confirmation Notes (All Items), add or update your confirmation notes as needed.
- Optional: Preview what your confirmation notes will look like to customers by clicking Preview Markdown.
- Click Save changes at the bottom of the page.
Updating confirmation notes for a specific availability
You can use public headlines to add confirmation notes to a specific availability. Any confirmation notes sent using a public headline will be shown in every confirmation email, in addition to any item-specific notes and company-level confirmation notes.
Adding images, links, and formatting
Formatting your text
Add some extra flair to your confirmation notes using Markdown. Markdown is a simple way to add formatting—such as boldface, italics, and bullet points—to plain text.
Certain parts of your FareHarbor Dashboard, such as descriptions and confirmation notes, support Markdown. In these sections, you can format your text and see what it will look like using the Preview Markdown button in the bottom right corner.

Adding images
Upload an image or file to your confirmation notes by using the Upload
icon at the bottom left of the text box. Once you’ve uploaded your image, you’ll see Markdown syntax that looks similar to this:

When your email is sent, the image will appear wherever you place this syntax.
Note: We recommend entering an image name or description between the brackets, in place of the text “Description of image.” This description is only visible if the image fails to load.
Adding a link
Add a link to your confirmation notes using the following Markdown syntax:
[Link text](https://www.example.com)
Replace the text in brackets with the text you want to show to the customer, and paste the website URL in between the parentheses.
Linking an image to a webpage
You can also make an image link to a webpage using the following syntax:
[](webpage link)
For example, if you wanted to include a screenshot of your location and link the image to your location in Google Maps, you could do this by taking a screenshot from Google Maps, uploading the image to FareHarbor (see above for steps), then filling in your image description, image link, and Google Maps link.
