Setting up combos
Last updated: October 17, 2025
Combos allow you to offer suggested items through an upsell page, which encourages customers to explore or purchase other items that may pair well with their current selection.
Setup
Required user permissions
Combos can be enabled by users who have permissions to Edit Dashboard features, company contact info, and FareHarbor profile. If you do not have access to edit Dashboard features, please reach out to your company administrator(s) to discuss enabling combos.
Enabling the Combos feature
- Navigate to Settings > Advanced company settings (the gear icon in the upper right) > Bookings.
Check Combos to enable.

Configure additional Combo settings as needed. Otherwise, proceed with Step 4.
- Check the Enable booking conflict warning option if an alert should appear when customers select availabilities with overlapping times.
- Check the Packages option to offer packaged combos at the start of the booking flow.
Click the Save changes button at the bottom of the Advanced company settings sidebar.
Combos will now appear as an option listed under Online Booking in the Settings tab.
Note: Combos can be used without enabling online cart, but will also work with setups where online cart is enabled.
Once the Combos feature has been enabled, a user permission named Manage combos will appear under the permission group Setup tab. Enable the Manage combos permission to allow permission group users access to the Combos feature under Settings.
Creating a combo
You must have more than one item available on your Dashboard to create a combo.
Navigate to the Settings tab and select Combos (listed in the Online Booking section). If you don’t see this option on your Dashboard, please see the Enabling the Combos feature section for setup steps.

Click the + New combo button.

Select which two items will be paired for upselling, then click the Create combo button.

Adjusting combo settings
Combo settings allow you to customize combo limitations and bookability. Settings include:
Campaigns: Determine whether customers can use campaign codes in addition to the discount applied to an upsell (combo discount). (Note: This setting will only appear if campaigns are enabled for the Dashboard.)
Discount behavior: Determine whether the number of combo discounts that can be redeemed should be restricted to the number of customer types selected for the opener item. (For example: If a customer selected two customer types for the opener item, they can only select two customer types for the discounted upsell item.)
- Date and time restrictions
- Require the customer to start both items on the same day.
- Set a minimum time between bookings to ensure the customer has enough time to arrive for the second activity.
- Prefer selecting the same day on the calendar view, if available. (Note: This setting is enabled by default.)
- Set blackout activity dates to prevent discounts from being offered during specific periods of time, such as holidays or peak seasons.
- Double bookings: Determine whether customers can book events overlapping availabilities. (Note: This setting is enabled by default, allowing customers to book overlapping availabilities.)
The Prefer selecting the same day on the calendar view, if available setting will be enabled by default, but we recommend disabling it if the bookability window(s) for one item does not intersect with the bookability window(s) for the other item.
For example: If this setting is enabled for a Halloween + Christmas item combo, the Halloween item will not appear as a suggested item if the customer is booking the Christmas item–because no Halloween availabilities will occur during or after the Christmas availabilities.
To update a combo’s settings:
- Navigate to Settings > Combos.
- Locate the combo you want to add a discount for, and click the associated Edit option.
- Under the Combo settings section, check the box next to a setting(s) as needed to enable for the combo.
- Click Save to finalize the updates.
Retail item settings
Different settings will be available if the combo includes a retail item.
- Campaigns: Determine whether customers can use campaign codes on top of combo discounts.
- Retail combos: Facilitates a streamlined booking flow experience for customers.
Previewing the upsell page
Once the combo is created, previews of the combo items’ upsell pages will be available under Settings > Combos. Each item has its own unique upsell page, so the page preview will vary depending on which item is selected for the preview.
(Note: If an item is used in multiple combos, multiple upsell items can appear on the upsell page.)

Hiding the upsell page
If you no longer want an upsell page to display for a specific item, the page can be hidden.
- Navigate to Settings > Combos.
- Select an item from the Select item to preview its upselling page dropdown to view its upsell page.
- Check the Hide upselling page from customers box that appears below the preview.
- Click the Save button.
Customers will no longer see an upsell page for the selected item.
(Note: The item will continue to appear on other upsell pages. If the goal is to prevent an item from appearing as an option on other upsell pages as well, combos that include the item can be deleted.)

Functionality restrictions
- Only items or retail items can be upsold via combos.
- Any upsell item must have a future availability in order to appear on the upsell page.
Client best practices
- If combos and suggested items are both in use, showing suggested items only after a purchase can help prevent customers from feeling overwhelmed.
- We recommend using a specific item in no more than three combos. Using three or less combos can help avoid inducing decision paralysis and facilitate a smooth mobile checkout experience.
- Tailor an upsell page’s headline to something concise and activity-specific for added appeal.
