How to improve your Item Quality Score
High-quality items lead to more affiliate promotions and an increase in bookings. That’s why we’ve introduced the Item Quality Score on the FHDN Marketplace — a system that evaluates your items based on various quality scores. Use this guide and checklist to optimize your listings, improve your score, and drive more sales.
1. Photos
Photos are the number one driver of visual appeal. Tours & activities are visual experiences — make them shine!
Checklist:
- Upload up to five high-quality images per item.
- Ensure images are high-resolution (at least 1280px wide).
Visit our dedicated help page to learn how to upload photos to your items.
2. Item description
A clear and concise description builds trust with potential customers.
Checklist:
- Use the Content Builder.
- Keep descriptions between 300–500 characters.
- Include any non-required but useful information.
Learn more about the Content Builder here.
3. Location
Customers want to know where the experience starts, you can make it easy for them.
Checklist:
- Make sure either the start location or primary location is filled in.
- Review or update your location information on the Dashboard > Settings > Locations.
To learn more about FareHarbor’s Locations feature, please visit our dedicated help page.
4. Tags
Tags help partners discover your items more effectively.
Checklist: Add at least one relevant tag (maximum of three).

5. Future availabilities
Affiliates promote listings with active and future availability. Integrations take time which is why more future availability is helpful for the effort.
Checklist:
- Add a minimum of 30 future availabilities.
- Ideally, add 100+ future availabilities.
To learn how to add future availabilities, please visit our dedicated help page. Alternatively, reach out to FareHarbor Support to request availability updates.
6. Reviews (Tripadvisor or Google)
Reviews boost trust and conversions. According to GetYourGuide (GYG):
- “9/10 travelers read reviews before booking”.
- “A one-star increase can boost conversions by up to 40%”.
Checklist:
- Google: Aim for a minimum of 4.2 stars or 100+ reviews.
- Tripadvisor: Aim for a high ranking (four or five stars) and at least 100 reviews.
- Include review links in follow-up emails to boost ratings.
