FareHarbor Distribution Network (FHDN) overview
Last updated: October 7, 2025
The FareHarbor Distribution Network (FHDN) makes it easier than ever to create partnerships. Participants in the network can promote other operators’ activities while also having their own experiences distributed online through affiliates like local travel platforms, blogs & influencers, hotels, airlines, and industry-leading OTAs around the world — without the burden of establishing multiple contracts.
The FHDN is FareHarbor’s affiliate program, which is designed to help streamline how you manage your affiliate relationships by finding affiliates, automating contracts & invoicing, and managing commission payments. FHDN does not replace your existing affiliate relationships, it is supplementary! There are two booking methods through the FHDN: Referral Links & API Bookings.
Benefits of joining the FareHarbor Distribution Network:
- One single contract: Make your inventory available to a multitude of affiliates with one single agreement.
- Get more bookings: Attract new customers beyond your organic traffic. Our local and global partners will promote your tours to a wider audience.
- Everything in one place: All bookings will flow through FareHarbor into your set availability, regardless of the affiliate. Bookings made through affiliate links are just like online bookings made on your websites.
- Get paid: Spend more time focusing on your business. All invoicing and payments are automated by FareHarbor, in your FareHarbor Dashboard.
Who can join?
To participate in the FHDN, your account must meet the following criteria:
- You must be using Stripe as your payment processor

FHDN agreement details
There are two agreements involved in the FareHarbor Distribution Network. One is the Provider Participation Agreement, which allows you to have your activities sold through the Network. The other is the Affiliate Participation Agreement, which allows you to sell tours and activities that are available through the Network.
Distribute your services through the FareHarbor Distribution Network
For FHDN referral link bookings: If your activities are sold through the program, you’ll pay out 20% commission on all bookings made through the program. FareHarbor handles the transfer of commission from you to the affiliate, guaranteeing that the correct amount of commission is paid. At the end of every month, we will send a report that details all of the bookings that have been made through the Network. Commission will be transferred out of your account on the 5th business day of the month, based on activity date, and deposited into the affiliate’s account on the 10th business day of the month.
For FHDN connected bookings: If your activities are sold through API affiliates, you’ll pay out 25% commission on all bookings generated. FareHarbor handles the transfer of commission from the affiliate to you, guaranteeing that the correct amount of commission is paid and you are always receiving your net rate of 75%. At the end of every month, we will send a report that details all of the bookings that have been generated in this method.
If you are located outside of the US, you will be instructed to set up your Refund Reserve if you have not already. FareHarbor will transfer commission out of your Refund Reserve if there is not already money “to be paid out” in your FareHarbor Dashboard. Click here to read the full agreement.
Sell through the FareHarbor Distribution Network
If you are a FareHarbor business that is selling a tour or activity, you will receive a 15% commission. FareHarbor handles the transfer of commission to you as an affiliate, guaranteeing that you receive the commission you are owed. At the end of every month, we will send a report that details all of the bookings that have been made through the Network. Commission will be transferred out of the account of the client that you sold on the 5th business day of the month (based on activity date) and deposited into your account on the 10th business day of the month. Click here to read the full agreement.
How it works
Once you join FHDN, your items will appear in the FareHarbor Marketplace of tours and activities, where FHDN affiliates can choose to display them on their websites or platforms. Keep in mind that it may take some time for affiliates to begin promoting your offerings, as they select items based on their target audiences.
While bookings aren’t guaranteed (as with any affiliate partnership), joining the FHDN gives you access to new distribution channels that can help grow your business and increase revenue.
It is important to ensure your items have high quality images, clear description and updated pricing to enhance the attractiveness of the item.
FHDN report for affiliates
If you are acting as an affiliate through the FHDN, you can also report on bookings you have generated through the FHDN. FHDN Report (located under Reports > Advanced) can be used to gather important insights, such as:
- Which experiences sell best on your website
- Which days your website generates more bookings
- An overview of your expected earnings
Please see the FHDN report help page for additional details.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
General FHDN questions
How are FareHarbor Distribution Network (FHDN) bookings generated?
- FHDN bookings are generated in two forms:
- Via API – A booking is originated & paid for in an Online Travel Agency (OTA)’s booking system and pushed into FareHarbor through an API connection. For these bookings, you will receive your net rate the month after the activity occurs.
- Via Referral/Booking Links – A booking is originated & paid for via FareHarbor (similar to an online booking on your website), the only difference is that the booking took place on the website of an affiliate. For these bookings, you will receive payment up front, and owe commission after the activity occurs. Did You Know: With this method, you can also be an affiliate on the FHDN and sell the tours & activities of other FareHarbor clients on your own website or confirmation emails.
What are the benefits of joining the FHDN?
- Increase your bookings through more visibility from affiliates – from local bloggers to global OTAs like Trip.com, Civitatis, Klook, Veltra, Virgin Experience Gifts, and more.
- FHDN booking links come in as regular online bookings, with next-day payouts and the ability to modify and cancel as usual.
- Enjoy automated invoicing and affiliate payouts.
- Earn passive income by also becoming an affiliate on the FHDN which allows you to sell the tours and activities of other FareHarbor businesses in your area.
How much commission do I pay for bookings made through the FHDN?
- FHDN Referral Links: If your activities are sold through FHDN booking links you’ll pay 20% commission on all bookings generated.
- FHDN API Bookings: If your activities are sold through the API, you’ll pay 25% commission on all bookings generated.
What if I already work with affiliates via FHDN API?
Existing contracts with affiliates that are part of the FHDN API network will override the FHDN API terms. You are able to work with any affiliates you wish and have whatever payment and commission structure you would like. FHDN API is designed to help operators add additional connection options.
Can I sell other clients’ activities only and not have my tours and activities resold?
- Great news – you can! You can join as an affiliate or have your services sold—or both—by signing the respective agreements: Provider Participation Agreement and Affiliate Participation Agreement. You will need to sign both agreements if you would like to do both.
- By signing up as an affiliate on this page, you can sell tours and activities from other companies in the FareHarbor Distribution Network (FHDN) and earn a 15% commission on bookings generated. FareHarbor ensures you receive your commission, which will be deposited into your account on the 10th business day of the month following the activity date. Track performance via “FHDN Reports” in your Dashboard and receive monthly commission invoices.
When will I get bookings after signing up for the FareHarbor Distribution Network?
- After joining FHDN, your items will be listed on the FareHarbor Marketplace, where affiliates can choose to feature them on their sites or platforms. Please note: it may take time for affiliates to pick up and promote your items, and bookings are not guaranteed as with any other affiliate you may work with.
It is important to ensure your items have high quality images, clear description and updated pricing to enhance the attractiveness of the item.
Can I limit the number of items that can be resold?
- Yes, if you are concerned about opening your availability to more affiliates, we recommend utilizing our new affiliate rules feature. This tool enables you to control which affiliates have access to your items and availability, and when they can book. Learn more about affiliate rules on this help page.
Are the commissions negotiable?
- The commission rates are non-negotiable.
Can I opt out of one of the booking methods?
- Yes, if you wish not to be enrolled in one of the two booking methods (FHDN Booking Links or FHDN API). Please complete this form.
Please note that you’ll need to give FareHarbor 30 days notice if you wish to opt out of the Network.

- The OTA collects full payment, and will pay the client’s net rate of 75% to FareHarbor the following month from the date of the activity. FareHarbor will then deposit this amount into your bank account, as listed in your FareHarbor Dashboard, within 15 days of the invoice being sent.
What type of reporting can you expect?
