Activities Importer
Last updated: January 12, 2024
Importing activities is step one in the process of adding activities to a site. The activity importer pulls activities and corresponding images directly from the client’s FareHarbor dashboard.
Connect Affiliate API
The Affiliate API must be added as an affiliate in the Dashboard in order to fill company settings and import activities from the Dashboard to the website.
The affiliate shortname to add depends on the currency accepted for activities. For a full list of currency-based shortnames, expand the option below.

Written Steps
Go into the client’s dashboard and go to the “Settings” tab.
Under “Settings,” go to “Affiliates” (found in the sidebar on the left side).
Click “Add Affiliate.”
Under “Affiliate to add” refer to the Affiliate shortnames list above. Remember that the affiliate shortname to add depends on the currency accepted for activities.
Under “Pricing” in “Total pricing” select “Online” from the dropdown.
Under “Permissions,” select “Affiliate can see prices” from the dropdown.
Under “Payment Default” select “Charging Card” from the dropdown.
Click “Add Affiliate”
Wordpress Settings Sync
On the backend of the website, make sure the correct settings are added.
Here we will be discussing the wordpress settings typically used after site creation. Information about Activity Import options during site creation can be found at the help page here.
Company Settings

In “Company Settings” make sure the shortname matches up to the company’s FH dashboard shortname and the currency is correct. The currency will be what is displayed across the whole site.
Activity Importer

Review the sections below for “FareHarbor’s Activity Importer” field’s (seen in image above) definitions and uses.
Company Shortname
Enter the company shortname (can be found in Airtable project card) to auto fill company settings from the dashboard at Site creation (Importing activities on live sites or post-creation will not update Company Settings). Remember this import is possible only when the Affiliate API is added to the Dashboard, which should have been completed already as indicated here.
Dashboard Environment
Demo Dashboard is selected for training purposes,
Production Dashboard is used outside of training
FH Sites Affiliate Shortname
This field must match to the Affiliate currency that was added to the FH Sites Affiliate Shortname on the FareHarbor Dashboard
Item #s
This is used when choosing to import specific items from the dashboard as opposed to all the items on the dashboard. This is achieved by adding the Dashboard Item #s and separating each number by a comma.
Checkboxes
The “Activity Importer” has different checkboxes to import items a specific way:
Include items that already exist in activities
- For one-off situations such as something that would require a duplicate page with a different booking link and when duplicating the existing pages doesn’t give the desired outcome.
Import items as drafts as opposed to published activities
- Allows you to publish the activities as they are finished, and better track what you have left to do on the build.
Import total price (tax included) for activities
If the client’s site prices experiences according to the Subtotal at checkout, you should use this option during import.
Recommend especially for regions that typically show the final price of the product (EU).
Import activities as affiliate activities
Useful anytime the client wants to resell activities from outside their company (usually meaning any time the activity comes from a different shortname than is in Company Settings).
If this is a part of the new build, an integration doc should be a part of the airtable card under the “ASN Partner Info” field.
Parse activities’ item descriptions into sectioned content
Useful when there is an extensive amount of content that would benefit from being broken up into smaller chunks of sectioned content.

Important things to keep in mind:
- The importer will only import items with the bookability on in the dashboard. This means no private or unlisted items will be imported.
- The importer does not work if the company’s dashboard is in demo mode. If you have to, you can ask the AM or onboarder to turn the dashboard off demo mode while you import activities and turn it back on afterwards.
- The importer may not import everything and may take you to an error screen if the company has a lot of items. You can avoid this by importing 4-5 activities at a time.
