Custom Field Answers report
Last updated: January 12, 2024
The Custom Field Answers report can be used to gather useful information from your customers’ bookings. For example, you could set up a weekly report to track revenue for add-ons (such as retail or transportation fees), or see how many times a specific promo code has been used in the past 30 days.
Locate this report under Reports > Advanced > Custom Field Answers.
In addition to the settings available on other Advanced reports, this report type has a few extra options to be aware of.
Customer- vs. Booking-level fields
Since custom fields can be applied to individual customer types or an entire booking, you’ll need to choose whether you want to report on your fields at the customer-level or booking-level.
For example, if you wanted to see when a field was filled out for a specific customer type (such as Adults), you would choose Customer-level fields.

This option is located in the Advanced settings, directly above the date range options.
Custom field filters
For detailed information about how to use filters, see this page.
When creating a Custom Field Answers report, you’ll need to add at least one custom field in the Filters section before you can run the report.

After choosing a custom field, determine how to filter your data:
- Any value: Shows every instance the custom field appears, whether it was filled out or not
- When selected: Shows every instance in which the custom field was filled out (if a text input or dropdown field) or checked (if a checkbox)
- When not selected: Shows every instance in which the custom field was not filled out (if a text input or dropdown field) or was unchecked (if a checkbox)
- When a specific value is selected: For text input, code, or dropdown fields, you can filter by a specific value. For example, you can filter your report to only show when a specific promo code was entered.

Columns
For detailed information about how to add columns to reports, see this page.
When choosing which columns to add to your report, note that there are different sets of columns based on custom field answers and bookings.
For example, when reporting on revenue for a retail custom field, you may want to see how much money was collected just for retail, while also seeing how much money was collected for overall bookings. This can be done by adding the Subtotal, Tax, and Total fields for both custom fields and bookings.

Other options
The Use Count column shows how many times a custom field value was selected.
The Display Count column shows how many times a custom field answer appeared on a booking, even if it was not selected (for example, if a “Choose your hotel” dropdown was available to a customer, but they did not select an option).
