How To Create a New Site in WordPress
Last updated: October 20, 2025
This help page will outline how to create a new site in Wordpress. Super Admin Access is required for this capability, find more info about that here.
Connect Affiliate API
Before we are able to create the site in Wordpress, a preliminary task is required in order to connect and import information from the client’s FareHarbor dashboard to the FareHarbor site. The Affiliate API, fh-sites, must be added as an affiliate in the Dashboard in order to fill company settings and import activities from the Dashboard to the website.
You can view step by step instructions on how to do this at the Activities Importer help page here.
Login to WP Admin
Navigate and Login to https://fareharbor.site/edit/wp-admin/network/ with your FareHarbor Super Admin credentials. Then select Create a New Site.

Preliminary Settings
There are a few preliminary settings that need to be added when creating a new site to ensure a seamless transition and integration of client information. Below are small descriptions and best practices of each preliminary settings field.

Site Address (URL)
This should be the domain name of the Website URL (Intake Form) field in the project’s Airtable card, unless specified otherwise. Note that only lowercase letters (a-z), numbers, and hyphens are allowed.
The “.fareharbor.site” portion of the address will be replaced with the appropriate top level domain once the site goes live. Keeping the site address at “.fareharbor.site” keeps the site build from being easily found during development and lets the client’s current site continue to display until the new site is ready to replace it.
For more information about domain names and and the other parts of a link check out the article here.
Site Title
The Site Title is what will show up on the backend in placeholders for title tags (ex About Us | Company Name) so it’ll save you time later on to have it be the brand name of the company used
Site Language
The Site Language is defaulted to English and will be typical for new Site builds
Admin Email
Always add fhsites.support@fareharbor.com email address when creating a site.
Close Lead ID
Add the close lead ID that corresponds with the client information in the Airtable card
Demo Site
Demo Sites are full site templates for FareHarbor Sites. It is suggested that these be used to increase efficiency in building.
Look for client Demo Site preferences in the PC notes field or demo site preference fields of the Airtable project intake card. Videos on how to find these sections in Airtable are below:
PC Notes in Airtable
Demo Preferences in Project Intake card
More information on demo sites can be found at the Layouts and Demo Sites help page here.
Company Shortname
Enter the company shortname (can be found in Airtable project card) to auto fill company settings from the dashboard. Remember this import is possible only when the Affiliate API is added to the Dashboard, which should have been completed already as indicated here.
Dashboard Environment
Demo Dashboard is selected for training purposes
Production Dashboard is used outside of training
Select the checkbox to “Initiate an activity import using the shortname”
FareHarbor Activity Importer
The importer will create new activities on this site for each of a FareHarbor company’s items. It will import relevant descriptions, pricing, and photos into the database. Please make sure the proper currency shortname is added as an affiliate based for the company with price viewing capabilities, otherwise the import will not work correctly.
FH Sites Affiliate Shortname
This field must match to the Affiliate currency that was added to the FH Sites Affiliate Shortname on the FareHarbor Dashboard. Find more information about this here.
Item #s
This is used when choosing to import specific items from the dashboard as opposed to all the items on the dashboard. This is achieved by adding the Dashboard Item #s and separating each number by a comma. More information on this is seen in the Activities Importer help page at the link here.
Checkboxes
Select Import items as drafts as opposed to published activities. This will allow you to publish the activities as they are finished, and better track the build
Leave the rest of the sections unchecked
More information about when to use these options is seen in the Activities Importer help page at the link here.
Add Site
The final step is to select the Add Site button. Once the Site is added it may take a few minutes to load and import the FareHarbor Dashboard information to the Site. There will be a prompt at the top of the page that notifies you when the site is ready such as the example below.

From here, you’ll likely want to visit the dashboard of the newly created Site to continue adding Settings in the backend.
