Tap to Pay on iPhone allows you to use your mobile device to accept contactless payments without the need for a separate card reader. You can accept contactless payments using Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover cards, as well as NFC-based mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay) directly in your iOS mobile app on an iPhone.
Note: Tap to Pay on iPhone is only available for the iPhone XS (2018) or newer running iOS 16.7 or greater, and only in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and the United States.

Auto-connect
Once you have successfully connected your NFC-enabled mobile device to FareHarbor, your device will automatically connect to FareHarbor each time you log in to the app, switch between Dashboards, or log in as a different user.
With auto-connect, FareHarbor will pair to the device you were most recently connected to. For example, if you connected to your NFC-enabled mobile device and then logged out, the next time you log back into FareHarbor, your NFC-enabled device will automatically pair to accept payments.
If you don’t want to automatically pair with your NFC-enabled device, navigate to your phone’s Settings and disable the NFC toggle.
If you are having trouble with auto-connect, make sure that your internet connection is stable. If you’re still having trouble, try setting up your iPhone again.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I accept payments using a PIN?
No, using Tap to Pay on iPhone with FareHarbor does not support payments using a PIN. If a PIN is required, we recommend trying an alternative payment method (such as Apple Pay or Google Pay) or using another method to collect payment, such as a card reader with a PIN pad.
Can I accept other payment methods besides Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, or digital wallets?
No, Tap to Pay on iPhone accepts payments made only with these contactless debit and credit cards and digital wallets such as Apple Pay.
Not every credit or debit card is contactless-ready, and you may need to use a traditional card reader as a backup option if your customer’s card does not support contactless payments. Learn more about FareHarbor’s supported card readers.
Why is a credit card transaction being declined?
A credit card transaction may be declined based on the limitations placed by the card issuer on the maximum amount that can be charged using the Tap to Pay on iPhone option. The limit for American Express is $250 USD and $100 USD for Visa/MasterCard. Tap to Pay on iPhone payments in excess of these amounts may require the customer to enter a PIN in order for the charge to be approved. Learn more about alternatives to PIN payments.
Can I connect to a different card reader and Tap to Pay on iPhone at the same time?
No, you cannot simultaneously connect to both an NFC-enabled device and a separate card reader.
If you need to switch accepting payments to a separate card reader, navigate to your FareHarbor Settings > Payments, and under the “Collect payments using” section, select “Card Reader” and continue the standard card reader setup.
Will this be available for devices other than iPhone XS or newer?
