How do I change online booking cutoff times?
Last updated: August 6, 2019
Online booking cutoffs let you determine when an item should be closed (no longer available) for customers to book. Online booking cutoffs can be managed in three different places:
- Main Dashboard settings (located under Settings > Booking Restrictions)
- Individual item settings (located under item settings > Bookability)
- Availability settings (located in the availability’s online booking status menu)
In most cases, you’ll want to update online booking cutoffs per item. Watch a short video or follow the steps below for more details on how to do this.
Changing an item’s online cutoff times
- Go to the Items section in your Dashboard and select the item you’d like to update.
- Go to Online Booking > Bookability.
- In the Auto close online bookings column, choose whether to base the cutoff on the availability start time or midnight on the day of the availability, and how many hours in advance the item should be closed.
- Click Save changes at the bottom of the page.
Repeat these steps for each item you want to update. To learn more about the other settings on this page, see Updating an item’s online booking settings.
Options
There are two different cutoff scenarios you can define:
- When there are no bookings on an availability
- When there are 1+ bookings on an availability
You could make both settings the same, but sometimes you may want to close your availabilities earlier or later based on whether or not you’ve received any bookings.
General Admission events
If you want to allow customers to make online bookings after the availability start time, you can use negative numbers. For example, “Auto close online bookings -1 hours before availability start time” allows online customers to book the activity up to one hour after its start time.
For an all-day availability, you could set to “Auto close online bookings -24 hours before availability start time” to allow bookings for the entire day.
This is most commonly used for “General Admission” events, where customers are able to buy tickets even after the event has started.
