Alvarado

Overview

Alvarado is an access control hardware and software company. They provide different options for turnstiles and other gates. More importantly, as part of their service, they offer a system they call GateLink, which is how we are able to integrate FareHarbor with their access control systems.

How it works

The integration with Alvarado is divided into two parts. First, we deliver booking data via our webhook functionality into their GateLink database. With booking data, Alvarado’s system is ready to validate check-in QR codes. Once the customer shows up to the client’s access control system they scan their QR codes into the hardware’s reader, at which point Alvarado validates that data back into FareHarbor to allow entrance or not.

Selling Points

For clients who expect a high volume of traffic, this is a no brainer since it automizes the check-in process almost 100%. It will only need the attention of an employee in rare cases if the integration is working correctly. Full disclosure, we have had different issues in the past regarding Alvarado’s portion of the integration and how to set item times correctly so there are no hiccups for end-user at the time of using the hardware. But as of today, our Artechouse integration is working smoothly and we have learned from previous issues.

Pricing

There is an initial cost for the hardware and integration. Plus a recurring yearly subscription to the GateLink service.

How to enable

In order to enable this integration, we will need Alvarado to provide a destination URL for us to set up our webhook functionality. After that Alvarado will need to be granted External API access to this Dashboard, User, and App keys so they can validate QR codes back in FareHarbor.
