Overview
Merchandise can be built a few ways using custom fields in FareHarbor. Below demonstrates three different optimal setups that can be used to accommodate client needs while protecting conversion rates. These options should be discussed with the client to find the best fit for them.
Merchandise Setup Option One: Call to Action Checkbox
Use the Whole-Booking Level to add the first custom field, a call to action checkbox prompting customers to check if they would like to add on merch. Note: if the client has multiple merchandise options, create a checkbox for each option so the end customer can select only one or multiple.

- Add on a quantity dropdown for customers to select how many of that merchandise item they are buying. The quantity dropdown should have a minimum of 1 and a maximum that matches or exceeds the availability capacity. A minimum of 1 should be used because the customer has already confirmed they want to buy by checking the initial box. The maximum should match or exceed the capacity of the item so that customers can purchase enough for their whole group.
Add logic to keep the book form clean and concise. The quantity dropdown custom field should then use logic to only display when the add-on checkbox is not empty.

- Repeat the steps above for each different merchandise the client is offering.
Merchandise Setup Option Two: No Checkbox, Just Quantity Dropdowns
Use the Whole-Booking Level to add the first custom field, a quantity dropdown with a minimum of 0 and a maximum that matches or exceeds the capacity. A minimum of 0 should be used because the merchandise is optional (this cannot be 1, otherwise customers will be forced into purchasing). The maximum should match or exceed the capacity of the item so that customers can purchase enough for their whole group. The quantity dropdown should include pricing in its description so that customers can see pricing of the merchandise at first glance.

- Repeat the steps above for each merchandise the client is offering.
Merchandise Setup Option Three: Photo Included
- Use the Whole-Booking Level to add the first custom field, a call to action checkbox prompting customers to check if they would like to add on merch.
In addition, add a photo of the merchandise to the custom field description.
Add logic to keep the book form clean and concise.

- Repeat the steps above for each merchandise the client is offering.
Pro-Tip
It is recommended to add a multiple line text input custom field into all these setups above for customers to enter in sizes for their merchandise. This can use logic to only display when the add-on checkbox for merchandise is not empty. See photo below:

Benefits
- Uses actionable language to urge customers to add-on merchandises
- The logic feature accommodates merchandise needs of our clients while protecting conversion rates by keeping the book form clean and hiding custom fields.
- If the client wants to include photos, they can be easily attached to custom fields and also hidden behind logic to keep the bookform clean.
