Simple capacity display

Prior to November 2017, we used the availability’s total capacity to determine the number of booked and empty spots on an availability. Ex: 8 out of 10 booked, 2 out of 10 available (where the availability’s total capacity is 10).
In November 2017, “simple capacity” was introduced, allowing the Dashboard to show the number booked and number available. This is because we take resources into account when determining the number available, and this number can change depending on how many resources are left.
Enabling and disabling simple capacity
FH Admins can control this setting in the advanced company settings, which can be accessed by clicking the gear icon. To enable simple capacity on a Dashboard, check the box next to “Simple capacity display” (located under the “View” section) and click Save.
How ‘number booked’ is determined
The number booked reflects the number of customer types booked, not the number of resources.
Ex 1: 16 people have been booked on the availability below (a combination of adult, child, and infant customer types), although they only use a total of 14 resources (infants don’t require a bus seat).
Ex 2: Customer types are single kayaks and tandem kayaks. One tandem kayak has been booked, which uses 2 of the “Kayak Tour Capacity” resource.
How ‘number available’ is determined
With simple capacity, the ‘number available’ number is more dynamic when it comes to companies using resources. Ex: If an availability’s total capacity is 10 but there are only 5 required resources left, we will only show 5 seats available, both on the front-end and back-end.
This is an improvement from the pre-2017 display (using only availability total capacity), which would sometimes cause users to think they had more seats available than they actually did. It also means that the “X seats left!” counter shown to online customers is now more accurate.
If resources are full, the availability will be marked “Full” and “Call to book” or “Sold Out” (depending on the item’s online booking settings).
If resources are being overused, Dashboard users will see an “Overusing resources” message:
