Setting up the FareHarbor Dock application

FareHarbor Dock (iOS/Android) is currently only available to clients in the U.S., Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and select EU businesses. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out to FareHarbor Support or our Account Management team.

Setting up the app
In order to use the Dock app, the following requirements must be met:
- Dock is enabled and configured in your Dashboard. (See the Configuring FareHarbor Dock help page for configuration instructions.)
- You must have a valid FareHarbor username and password.
- Your user must have the Create bookings and Charge credit cards permissions enabled. (See the Configuring FareHarbor Dock help page for setup details.)
- Download the FareHarbor Dock (iOS) application from the Apple App Store (iOS) or from the Play Store (Android).
- Launch the application on your iPad or Android tablet.
- Enter your company shortname in the Company shortname field, then click Continue.
- Enter your FareHarbor username and password.
- Click Log in.
Connecting your card reader
Only a supported Stripe card reader can be used with FareHarbor Dock. Learn more about other hardware requirements.
Payments can be accepted using an EMV card reader connected via Bluetooth, WiFi, or Ethernet (depending on your card reader type).
Prerequisite: Enable Bluetooth on your iOS or Android device.
To connect your card reader to FareHarbor Dock:
- Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the upper left corner of the app view.
- Tap on Connectivity.
- Tap on Connect card reader.
- Tap on the card reader’s name. (This must be a Stripe card reader supported in your region.)
Connecting your printer
FareHarbor Dock supports ticket printing with AirPrint, Star Micronics, and Boca printers. Learn more about other supported hardware like card readers and tablets.
Prerequisite: Set up your printer.
To connect your printer to FareHarbor Dock:
- Open the FareHarbor Dock app, and tap the menu icon (three lines) in the upper left corner of the app view.
- Tap on Settings.
- Tap on Connectivity.
- Tap on Printer type.
- Select your printer from the options:
- AirPrint
- Star Micronics (Note: This must be a supported Star Micronics ticket printer.)
- Boca Bluetooth
- Boca Wi-Fi
- Enter your IP address (only required for the Boca Wi-Fi option).
Select the printer Resolution.
Important note: The dpi selected in the app and on the printer need to match. In case of a mismatch, the printed ticket will have an incorrect size.
Tap on Save to connect.
Changing the default display settings
You can change your user-specific default settings in the FareHarbor Dock app.
- Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the upper left corner of the app view.
- Tap Settings.
- Adjust settings as desired for your setup.
- Default view will show the Calendar view when you open the app.
- Item view can be used to customize items’ backgrounds and width.
- Calendar view can be used to change calendar width.
Setting up a welcome screen for Kiosk mode

Setting up a welcome screen for Kiosk mode can further elevate your brand’s presence, and provide customers the top-level option to sign a waiver. Log into your Dashboard to set up a welcome screen.
- Navigate to the Settings tab.
Click the FareHarbor Dock option located in the sidebar, in the Online Booking section.
(Note: The FareHarbor Dock feature must be enabled for the Dashboard before this option will appear. Please reach out to FareHarbor Support if you need additional assistance.)
There are three welcome screen options available. Select the option that best suits your use case.
- Company logo will display the logo image currently set up within the Dashboard.
- This option will be configured by default once the FareHarbor Dock feature is enabled for your Dashboard.
- Update your logo image as needed under Settings > Info & Policies > Logo & Contact.
- Background image allows you to upload an image that will display as the welcome screen. In order to be used as a background image, the image file must be:
- 250kb or less in size
- At least 2732px x 2048px in dimension
- No welcome screen will disable the top-level option to sign a waiver. Customers will only see the option to start booking.
- Company logo will display the logo image currently set up within the Dashboard.
Once the welcome screen is configured, click Save to finalize your updates.
