Activity is Event
Last updated: October 13, 2020
Some clients provide activities that only happen once, yearly, or at random intervals, etc. For example, a single cruise to see fireworks on the 4th or July, or a haunted tour that occurs in the evening during the week before Halloween. In this case, the activity can be considered an event, and the option to designate an activity as an event might come in handy.

How to use Activity is Event
For an activity that can be considered an event, select the option “Activity is Event” on the FareHarbor tab of the activity. This will show 3 new fields on the Timing tab: ‘Event Start Time,’ ‘Event End Time,’ and ‘Event Timezone.’

Event Start Time
This field is required! An event must have at least a start time. This date and time will show on the activity page and on the grid block. If no other date range information is provided, the event will stop appearing on the site at this date and time.

Event End Time
If an event end time is provided, the event will stop appearing at this date and time, instead of the start time. This will also cause the date to appear as a range on the front end. If the start and end date are the same, you will see “Month, Date, Year @ Start Time – End Time.” If the start and end date are different, you will see “Start Month, Date, Year – End Month, Date, Year.”
Event Timezone
By default the event will use the timezone set for the website, which should be fine in most cases. This option, however, will override the timezone for specific events, which can come in handy for events happening in different locations from the main site location.
Custom Date Ranges
Events can still be timed and have custom date ranges applied to determine when the event will appear on the site.
If a Date Range is selected for an event, the date range will override the start or end time and the event will only appear on the site during the set date range or ranges. Date ranges, however, do not affect the dates and times shown on the front end of the activity, this will still reflect the event start and end time.
If an activity is an event, you will not be able to select a fallback activity. When the date is outside of a date range (or past the end date if there is not date range set), then the activity will simply no render in grids. If it is in a featured activity row, the row will simply not render.
