Using the FareHarbor app on an Android mobile phone

Note: The FareHarbor Android app is available for mobile phones only. For tablets, you have access to full FareHarbor functionality using the mobile-optimized version of your tablet’s browser. Learn more by clicking here.

Installing the Android app
To install the FareHarbor app on your Android phone:
- Tap the Google Play icon from your Android mobile device to open the Google Play Store.
- Tap here to download the FareHarbor app from the Google Play Store, or enter FareHarbor in the Search field to find the app.

- Tap Install. The app is downloaded to your phone and automatically installed.
Once the installation is complete, click Open to open the app.

The Login screen opens.
Logging in to the app
- Open the app on your mobile phone.
- Tap the blue Log In button.

- Enter your company shortname. Your shortname is the unique name for your FareHarbor account and can be found in your Dashboard URL: www.fareharbor.com/yourshortname. If you’re not sure what your shortname is, we can email it to you. Learn more about shortnames.

- Tap Next in the top-right corner of your screen.
- Enter your username and password (remember that passwords are case-sensitive).

- Tap Next to open your company’s Dashboard.
Logging out of the app
To log out of your FareHarbor Dashboard:
- Tap the gear
icon located in the lower-right corner of the app to open the app’s Settings. - Tap Log Out.

Scanning QR codes for check-in
Tickets can be generated with a type of barcode called a QR code, which stores information about that specific booking. These codes can be scanned on a mobile device to check in your customers.
Before you can start scanning QR codes, you’ll need to take the following steps:
You will need to have QR code scanning turned on for each individual item that you want to allow scanning for. Please contact FareHarbor Support if you need to enable this feature.
Download a QR scanning app like Scan or Kaspersky QR Scanner onto your mobile device. When you open the app, make sure to give access to your device’s camera so it can scan QR codes.
FareHarbor and the QR scanning app work together to scan your QR codes. With some apps, you will need to have both the app and FareHarbor in your mobile browser open at the same time. With other apps, you’ll be required to log into FareHarbor within the app itself after scanning the first code.
Note: Depending on what code scanning app you’re using, you may be required to log into FareHarbor the first time you scan a QR code.
- Open the scanning app. If this is your first time using the app, you’ll see a prompt asking for access to your camera. Tap Allow. You should now see a camera view with a box outlined in the center.
Point the camera at the QR code, positioning the code inside the box.

Once the code has been scanned, you’ll be taken to FareHarbor. If needed, log into your Dashboard.
You should see a check-in page with one of the following statuses:
Successfully checked in: The customer has been checked in.
Customer already checked in: The QR code has already been used to check in a customer.
Did not automatically check in: The availability is either in the past or more than one hour in the future. You can tap the Check in button to check in the customer. For more information, see our Troubleshooting page.Navigate back to the app to scan your next code.
To check in all guests in a party:
- Scan a QR code from one of the guests in the party.
On the mobile browser check-in page, tap the button that says Check in all X people (the X will indicate the number of people in the party).

Verify that the button now says All X checked in under the correct booking.
Scanning QR codes for bookings made through Expedia and Booking.com
If your FareHarbor Dashboard is connected to Expedia or Booking.com using an API, please note the following information about how QR codes are provided to your customers.
Whereas FareHarbor provides unique QR codes per individual on a booking, Expedia provides customers with a single QR code per booking. As a result, when booking through Expedia, your customers will receive the QR code for the first individual on the booking only. Follow the recommended steps below to ensure the entire party is checked in correctly.
Booking.com will provide customers with unique QR codes per individual. This means that when the QR is scanned, only that one specific customer will be checked in. You may follow the recommended steps below to ensure the entire party is checked in correctly.
If a booking made through Expedia or Booking.com was rebooked to a different date or time, the customer’s QR code will still direct to the original booking. To ensure guests are checked in on the correct booking, go to the Activity section of the original booking and look for an activity that says “Rebooked to #12345.” Tap on the booking ID to go to the new booking and set the check-in status.
Recommended check-in process for Expedia and Booking.com bookings
