Post Parent
Last updated: October 8, 2018
In the bottom right-hand corner of any page, activity page, or blog post, there’s a section with the heading “Post Parent Type.” Post Parent Type allows you create a more organized structure for your site. When a parent to a page is assigned, it creates a hierarchy and passes SEO juice to important pages through internal linking.
- For example, on a Denver tours site that runs tours in RiNo and other neighborhoods all activities page has the slug /denver-tours/.
- When creating RiNo tour page, it makes sense to assign all activities page as its parent. This gives your RiNo tour page the slug /denver-tours/rino/ instead of just /rino/.
Assigning a parent page
- Select the post type of parent page to assign (either an activity or page) in the dropdown under Post Parent Type.
- Select the specific activity or page to assign in the parent dropdown in the Page Attributes section (located directly above Post Parent Type).
Note: When using parent pages, be sure to use breadcrumbs (for activity pages, use the checkbox under Settings > Activity Settings > Display and for pages, use the breadcrumb block).
