Creating a new booking for an existing contact
Last updated: September 21, 2022
Creating a new booking for a contact saves time by automatically filling in customer contact information, custom field answers, and credit card information. This also links the contact’s bookings together so you can see all of their reservations in one place or create an order.
To create a new booking for a contact:
Find and open the existing booking.
Click New booking for contact (located near the top of the booking, directly below the customer’s contact information).

Select an availability and click New booking.
Fill out the book form. Before completing the booking, be sure to:
- Adjust the number of customer types, if needed
- Fill out any new custom fields
- Confirm that you’ve selected the correct payment method (especially important if the customer has multiple credit cards on file)
Click Complete booking.
Once completed, you’ll be taken to the new booking overview. Below the contact information you’ll see all of the customer’s existing bookings.

Rebooking or adding new bookings for an existing contact
Note: When rebooking or creating a new booking for an existing contact, the new booking will use the same price sheet and affiliate information as the original booking. This is true even if you are using a price schedule that has different pricing rules for the date of the new booking.
You can view or change the price sheet using the Pricing menu at the top of the book form when creating a new booking. If you need to view or change the price sheet after booking, you can do so using the Reprice booking action.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a contact and a customer?
In FareHarbor, the contact is the person or group associated with a booking or order. This is the name listed at the top of the booking or order overview.
Customers, on the other hand, describe the individuals on a booking. There can be one or more customers on a booking, but only one contact.
Although you may use these terms interchangeably, it’s helpful to know the difference when deciding whether to run a Contacts versus a Customers report in your Dashboard.
Can I book an existing contact into another Dashboard?
No – Existing contacts cannot be booked into another Dashboard’s items. If you want to book an existing contact into a partner company’s Dashboard, you will need to re-enter the contact’s information in the second Dashboard.
Can I apply one payment to multiple bookings?
Yes! Bookings for the same contact can be grouped into an order and paid for together. Keep in mind that orders are not enabled by default, so you may need to contact FareHarbor Support before you can start creating them.
