Changing an availability’s booking restrictions

In addition to its online booking status, each availability has a set of booking restrictions that controls how it can be viewed and booked by online customers. For example, customize what time the availability automatically closes, or change the minimum party size required when there are no bookings. Learn more about these options.
Availabilities use the restrictions set in their item’s Bookability settings by default, but these can be overridden using restrictions created in your Dashboard settings.
Creating custom booking restrictions
If you haven’t already created the booking restrictions you want to apply to your availabilities, you’ll want to do this first. These restrictions are managed in your main Dashboard settings.
Follow these instructions to create new booking restrictions from your Dashboard settings.
Changing booking restrictions for a single availability
- Find and open the desired availability.
- At the top of the availability settings, you will see a toolbar displaying the current online booking status for the availability. Click on the current status to reveal a dropdown menu.
Click on Bookability.
At the bottom of the menu, under Restrictions, click the pencil icon.
Check the Override restrictions box and choose from your existing booking restrictions.
Click Save.
Once the new restrictions are selected, they will automatically go into effect. You will also see the update in the availability’s activity section.
Changing booking restrictions for multiple availabilities at once
You can use the availability updater to update booking restrictions for multiple availabilities at once, across different items. To do this:
Go to the Bookings section of your Dashboard.
From the toolbar, open the Advanced menu and select Update availabilities (Note: to access the updater from a specific item, follow these steps instead):
In the first section of the updater, select Restrictions (located under Setup).
In the second section, select which availabilities to update by adjusting the date range and items. If needed, you can also narrow down availabilities using filters. Read more about these options.:
In the example above, availabilities with default restrictions from 12/20-12/31, for 5 items will be updated.
In the third section, select the new booking restrictions you want to use:
Click Preview changes to confirm the number of availabilities that will be changed.
Click Complete update.
Notes
During the Preview changes step, you’ll see a message telling you how many availabilities will be changed. If no availabilities will be affected, double check that you’ve selected the correct options, make any needed adjustments, then click the Preview button again to complete the update. If you’re using the Current online booking status filter, try choosing Auto close or Any status and click the Preview changes button again.
