How to enable Tripadvisor ratings
Last updated: November 8, 2024
By enabling Tripadvisor ratings in a company’s Dashboard settings, their TA rating and ranking will automatically be displayed in the Lightframe when online customers are booking. Here’s an example from Pacific Whale:

How it works
The location displayed under the rating (for example, “#1 of 44 things to do in Honolulu”) is based on the locations set up in the company’s Dashboard. To determine which location is shown to the customer, FareHarbor uses the following logic:
Use the item’s Review Express location. This can be found in an individual item’s settings, under Integrations > Review Express.
- To set a different review location on different items, edit the TARX custom location.
If there’s no location on the item, use the Company Location. This can be found under Settings > Build > Locations > Settings.
If there’s no location on the company, use the company’s Tripadvisor URL. This can be found under Settings > Info & Policies > Social Media.
If the company has no Tripadvisor URL, do not display a rating.
This means that even if TripAdvisor Review Express is not enabled for a specific item, ratings will still be shown based on the custom location set for Review Express on the item level, company’s default location or Tripadvisor URL.
Ratings are updated once a week.
When should I enable Tripadvisor ratings for a company?
- The client should have at least 100 reviews and a good ranking on Tripadvisor. For example, #4 of 30 in Things to Do is good, #17 of 17 not so much.
- If the client has less than 100 reviews, but requests to have the Tripadvisor ratings enabled, go ahead and enable the ratings.
How to enable Tripadvisor ratings
- From the company’s Dashboard, type
Shift+,to go to advanced settings. - Go to the Setup section and make sure that Locations are enabled.
- Go to the Integrations section and enable Tripadvisor ratings.
Save your changes.

Once enabled, visit the company’s website and confirm that ratings and their locations are displayed as expected.
