FHDN – Guide to Integrations & Best Practices
Last updated: July 31, 2025
This help page outlines the integration process for new FHDN partners.
Integration Process – when FareHarbor is handling the integration
Step 1: Discuss with the client or affiliate where the FHDN book buttons will be located on their website. If we are going to create a new page, determine where that page will live, and what it will be called. FareHarbor’s Integrations Team is typically able to build a new page on our client’s websites if applicable.
Step 2: Determine which items will be integrated on the client or affiliate’s website. Best practice is to limit the number of items, as too many items creates indecision. The most important thing to think about in the integration process is ensuring that if a customer lands on the website, there’s a clear conversion funnel. If you get pushback, please review this section for potential responses to pushback.
Step 3: Send the affiliate a Marketplace invitation, allowing them to log in and select the items they want to display on their platform. Create a copy of the Integration Request Google Sheet, and start to fill in the Integration Request Form.
Step 4: Follow the instructions on the Integration Request Template, and make sure to create a new tab for every page on the affiliate or client’s website where there will be FHDN book buttons. Make sure to add any text/content that should be added to the page, and fill in all possible information so that the Integrator will not have to make any assumptions, and you can take control over how well the integration will be set up to convert!*
Step 5: If it’s a FareHarbor integration, complete the integration Request Form, and be sure to add the website log-in information to Keeper. For more information click here.
*You also have the option of building an embed out yourself using FareHarbor’s custom embed generator. This allows you to have complete control over how the integration will look on the client’s website. Once you have completed the embed, click the “Download File” button at the bottom of the generator. This will download the source code into a .txt file that can be attached to the request.
You can find the FareHarbor Embed Generator here. For more info on using the FareHarbor Embed Generator, refer to this help page.

Pushback & Responses
Clients or affiliates wanting to sell every item available in a city:
- Too many options creates indecision – we recommend narrowing down the items you are offering on your website to help the customer make their decision and decrease the amount of time it can take for a conversion to take place
Small affiliates that want to sell tours and activities in 10+ cities:
- We recommend that you start with 3-5 destinations first, and figure out what marketing strategies work best for you, before expanding to additional destinations. We find that affiliates are more successful when they narrow down their marketing strategy and find what they can be successful in selling – once that works for you, then it’s a great time to expand your focus and add additional destinations.
Integration Best Practices
For All Sites
- Asn tags are case sensitive so the text in the URL MUST always be in lowercase.
Client Sites

- Header on page – include this in the Integration Request Doc
- Intro text / opportunity to provide context. I.e., “We have partnered with local tour and activity providers to offer you more fun and exciting things to do while you are in ___. Browse our curated selection below!”
- Individual Item integrations, with no flows
- Per Item: Header with the item name, with a smaller description of “by touroperator-xyz”. Clear, eye-catching image. One – two sentence description describing the tour or activity.
