Reading

Reading Settings is where the homepage page and blog posts page is defined.
Your Homepage displays
Your homepage displays should almost always be set to “A static page”. If the site was functioning as a blog feed, select the “Your latest posts” option.
Next, select which page to display as the homepage (which will inherit the / slug) from the dropdown. If the site has a Blog set up, select the Blog feed page from the dropdown as well.
Every time the static page selections are changed, the Permalinks will need to be re-submitted by navigating to Settings > Permalinks and pressing “Save Changes”.
Blog pages show at most
If the site has a blog, select how many blog posts should appear at any one time on that blog feed page.
Syndication feeds show the most recent
This is the amount of blog posts that show on a page at a time. For readability it is best not to keep the pages to long and keep them at around 10, but can be adjusted.
For each article in a feed
Post will always show a summary or snippet of the blog post no matter what is selected here.
Search Engine Visibility
Discouraging search engines from indexing sites should only be used on kiosk sites or if specifically requested by the client for an edge case.
For the majority of sites, this box should never be checked. Consult SEO if a site needs this feature.
