Affiliate API Connection Fee & Maintenance Fee
Last updated: August 7, 2024
The Strategic Partnerships Team has introduced an API Connection fee and an API Maintenance for new API Partners connecting to FareHarbor’s External API. This has been done to improve the vetting process and provide improved features for our API Partners and better align our teams objectives/priorities with those of Leadership as we march towards #FH500.
What are the Affiliate API Connection & Maintenance Fees?
To connect to our API, we charge new Partners two fees (always billed in Euros):
- A Connection Fee of €1,000
- An Annual Maintenance Fee of €1,000, charged annually on the date that the partner’s API connection went live after the first year.
These fees cover the cost associated with onboarding new partners, maintenance and enhancements of key features that benefit API Partners.
The fees are per API Application Key access ONLY; not per User Key access or per charter! Meaning that partners are not charged an additional fee every time they want to work with an additional charter.
Note: If the new Partner is connecting via a Channel Manager (like Redeam and Ventrata for example) the Connection fee is discounted by 50% (€500)
Why did we implement these fees for affiliates?
- To improve and invest in the needs of our API partners.
- To better qualify affiliates and filter out less serious or smaller partners.
- To encourage affiliates to be committed and generate bookings for our clients.
- To monetize the extensive work required for a new Partner to go live on the API.
- To align with our strategic revenue objectives.
Who pays the Affiliate API Connection Fee & the Maintenance API Fee?
All new Partners connecting by API, including OTAs and other Distributors connecting via Channel Managers.
How is this different from the FareHarbor API Fee?
- The API fee of 2% is charged to FareHarbor clients, whereas the Affiliate API Connection fee & Maintenance fees are one off and are charged to the Partner.
- The 2% fee is for improvements that benefit our charters (like auto-mapping)
- The Affiliate API Connection and Maintenance fees are for onboarding new partners, maintenance and enhancements of key features that benefit API Partners.
Which team handles which fee?
The Strategic Partnerships team handles the Affiliate API Connection & Maintenance fees, paid by the API Partner.
The Connectivity team handles the API fee that active FareHarbor clients pay.
Note: If you have more questions about the Affiliate API Connection & Maintenance fees, please post a slack in our team channel: #straticpartners-affiliates. For escalations (if an affiliate’s objection to the fee is delaying a client’s go live or harming retention), please post in #strategicpartners-affiliates with your Director tagged. Director approval is required for any potential exceptions.
