What is GetYourGuide?
GetYourGuide is a global Online Travel Agent (OTA) headquartered in Berlin, Germany that operates an online marketplace and internet booking engine for tours and activities which is accessible via its website and mobile app.
How does the integration work?
In order to complete the integration, the client will need to have an account on GetYourGuide with active products built out on the GetYourGuide extranet. Please note that we can only connect products that have an active status on GetYourGuide.

Availability, bookings, and cancellations are shared via the API. Updates happen once a day for the first 90 days. After this, your products are updated once a week for the next year.
The content of tours must be updated manually in the extranet of GetYourGuide. GetYourGuide can pull pricing from FareHarbor for eligible products.
What does a booking look like?
Here is an example of what a booking coming through the GetYourGuide API looks like. The booking will be tagged with the GetYourGuide API.
Booking overview:

Additional information that GetYourGuide has collected at the time of booking can be found in FareHarbor booking notes (on the booking overlay, in the manifest, and on booking notification emails sent from FareHarbor to the client) including the following:
- Comments
- All travelers names and their phone numbers
- Hotel Name
All booking information GetYourGuide has sent through the API can be found at the bottom of the booking.

How to tell if a client is live on the GetYourGuide API
To see if a client is live on the API, check Close and the custom field “Connectivity – Live”. If the company is live on the API, GetYourGuide will be selected.
To check the status of an integration, see here:
What information comes through the API connection?
- Customer first and last names
- Phone number
- Traveler hotel (this needs to be built on GYG in order to show)
- Language (this needs to be built on GYG in order to show)
- Cancellations
How to get set up on API
Steps:
- The supplier must create a GetYourGuide account (if they do not have this already). Use this link to sign up.
- Submit an API Mapping Request Form on behalf of the client requesting a new connection. Please make sure you have the following information:
- Ask the client for their supplier page or a list of the FareHarbor items they would like to connect.
- Confirm if they would like to connect to pricing and if they have special affiliate rates.
- Gather the commission info and add this in the comments.
How to get connected with API new products
Please submit an API Mapping Request Form.
What changes on FareHarbor will break an API connection
- Adding or removing customer types
- Combining items
- Changing start times
Product will not be bookable anymore:
- If the client deletes/closes an availability on FareHarbor. This doesn’t “break” the connection, but does make the availability no longer available on GetYourGuide.
- Changing the bookability of availabilities or items (changing to private, call-to-book or closed and hidden) will also make these products unavailable to the API Partner.
Please note that GetYourGuide can book into unlisted items and unlisted availabilities in FareHarbor.
How to report a problem or request a change to the mapping files
Please submit an API Mapping Request Form.
GetYourGuide Pricing API
- For eligible products, GetYourGuide can pull pricing from the FareHarbor dashboard and that price will display on GetYourGuide’s front end. A product is eligible if it is not set up with tiered pricing. Products that are enabled will be shown in the admin notes of the dashboard.
- The rate in GetYourGuide is always inclusive of taxes, and we will always send what is listed under the “Final Price” column in FareHarbor.
- Group pricing products will have to have a price listed, but tiered group pricing is not supported through the API
GetYourGuide “Special Offers/Deals”
In GetYourGuide, clients can reduce prices for a limited time to attract travelers to their activities. These discounts are called “Special Offers’’. “Special Offers” are a discount percentage and are set up and managed within GetYourGuide by the client.
Clients can now opt in to use the retail price (standard rate minus deal percentage) coming from GetYourGuide bookings to determine the total cost of the booking and automatically set the booking total on the booking. This means the total on the booking in FareHarbor will reflect the actual rate paid for by the end customer.
This is a huge benefit for clients since they no longer have to reprice bookings in FareHarbor that are using “Special Offers/Deals” in GetYourGuide, ensuring reporting in FareHarbor is correct, and API fees are charged on the correct price.
This feature is on a dashboard level and can be set-up by the connectivity team. Please submit an API Mapping Request Form.
Important notes
This new feature will only work for GetYourGuide affiliations that are set up with a connected invoice sheet.
Manual rebooking done on the dashboard will not carry over the “promo” cost on the booking, but rather revert to the original cost based on the customer type prices set on the price sheet.
GetYourGuide FAQ
How much does a client have to pay for this integration?
The initial setup is free for the supplier. GetYourGuide then takes a negotiated commission percentage on every sale made through the API.
How frequently does GetYourGuide pull availabilities and prices from FareHarbor?
Availability and pricing is updated according to the schedule listed below:
- every 8 days -> fetch next 365 days,
- every 4 days -> next 90 days,
- every 24h -> next 30 days,
- every 6h -> next 7 days.
Availability only is updated according to the schedule listed below:
- every 8 days we fetch availability for the next 365 days
- every 4 days we fetch availability for the next 90 days
- every 1 day we fetch availability for the next 30 days
Can GetYourGuide pull pricing from the FareHarbor dashboard?
Yes, for any non tiered pricing products GetYourGuide can pull pricing from your FareHarbor dashboard. If a client has this enabled it will be indicated in the admin notes of the dashboard. If you would like to set this up please submit an API Mapping Request Form.
Can a client have multiple FareHarbor Dashboards or multiple accounts on OTAs? How does it work?
Yes, we can connect multiple items from separate FareHarbor charter Dashboards into a single GetYourGuide backend account. This works vice versa as well, and multiple GetYourGuide products can flow into one FareHarbor charter Dashboard.
How do cancellations and refunds work?
They work according to the cancellation policy which is set-up in GetYourGuide and flow through the API. A booking is refunded if the cancellation was made within the rules of the cancellation policy.
How do amendments to a booking work?
Amendments to bookings flow through the API but do not work like a normal rebooking. Instead, the original booking is cancelled and a new booking is created with the same reference number.
What happens when a client wants to close their tours only on GetYourGuide on certain days?
Any dates/tours that are manually blocked out on GetYourGuide will be removed after FareHarbor is connected to the GetYourGuide API. GetYourGuide will automatically pull the availability and all start times from FareHarbor. This means that if you want to close the tours on GetYourGuide you have to close the availability on FareHarbor.
Can a client have a different currency on an OTA than on FareHarbor?
No. The currency of their GetYourGuide account must match the currency set in the “Bank and Payments” section of their FareHarbor Dashboard. You cannot check the GetYourGuide currency as it is a backend setting that the account holder can view only.
Can a client have different language options in FareHarbor and GetYourGuide?
Yes. An item with multiple language options can connect to GetYourGuide. In order to connect all language options successfully, there must be multiple tour options built out on the GYG product for each language.
Can a client connect FareHarbor items that have different timezones than their products in GetYourGuide?
Yes. As of 12/2019, GetYourGuide no longer takes timezone into account when connecting FareHarbor items to the API, so dashboards that have items in multiple locations or items with timezones that don’t match the product timezone on GetYourGuide can now be connected.
Can GetYourGuide pull FareHarbor’s QR codes?
Yes, if a client has ticket scanning enabled in FareHarbor, a customer’s GetYourGuide voucher will include one FareHarbor QR code per whole booking.
