Working with item colors
Last updated: December 5, 2022
To help keep track of your schedule in FareHarbor, you can assign different colors to your items, which will be shown throughout your Dashboard.

Click into the sections below to learn more about working with item colors.
Changing an item’s color
There are two places you can set an item’s color: in an individual item’s settings, or from the Bookings section of your Dashboard.
From an item’s settings
- Go to the Items section of your Dashboard and select the item you want to update.
- From the item’s settings, go to Info & Policies > Advanced.
- Scroll down and choose a color from the palette.
- Save your changes.

From the Bookings section
- Go to the Bookings section of your Dashboard and open the Filter menu.
- Click Items to see a list of your items and their colors.
Click the Edit
icon next to the item you want to update.
Choose a color from the palette.
- Save your changes.
Note: Changing an item’s color here will change its color throughout the Dashboard, including any custom calendars you have set up.
Disabling item colors
Removing an item’s color
To remove an item’s color, go to the item’s settings or open the filters menu from your Bookings calendar (see above for detailed steps). Then, choose the “No color” option.

Disabling colors from the Bookings calendar
If you want to keep your item colors but prefer not to see them when viewing your Bookings calendar, you can disable colors from your calendar by opening the Display options menu and unchecking the Color-coded items box.

When this box is unchecked, item colors will be removed and the calendar will be color-coded based on capacity instead. You can save your updated preferences by creating or updating a custom calendar.
Remember: This option will only disable colors on your Bookings calendar; they will still be visible in other places like the manifest and on bookings.
FAQs
Can colors be customized for individual users or custom calendars?
You can choose whether or not to display item colors on individual custom calendars using the Color-coded items option in the Display options menu. When this box is unchecked, item colors will be removed and the calendar will be color-coded based on capacity instead.

However, to maintain consistency across your calendars and staff, you won’t be able to customize individual item colors per calendar or per user. This means if you change an item’s color from your Bookings calendar, you’re changing that item’s color everywhere it’s used in your Dashboard, including all other custom calendars.
What if I want to use different colors than the ones available?
Currently you can only choose between the 12 pre-set colors in FareHarbor. In the future, we may introduce additional colors or customization options.
Will item colors be reflected on my website?
Item colors are not displayed on your website or to your customers. They’re just a way for you to manage your schedule on the back-end.
Internal-only content. Don't copy and paste to anyone.
Notes
Item colors are a required feature. Once a company has enabled item colors, they no longer have the option to turn them completely off. However, they can still remove colors from each individual item by following the steps in the “Disabling item colors” section.
Duplicated items will receive the same color by default.
