Scanning QR codes for specific customer types
Last updated: July 18, 2024
QR code ticket-scanning can be enabled for check-ins using the FareHarbor app. If you would like to permit specific mobile devices to only check in particular customer types, you can enable device-specific check-ins under the QR code settings and permit specific customer types in the Allowed Customer Types setting. This functionality is useful if, for example, you want only adults to be admitted at a particular point of entry.
Prerequisites
To scan QR codes for specific customer types, first enable QR scanning on the relevant item in your Dashboard and install the FareHarbor iOS app (version 2.18.0 or higher).
Note: This feature is only available on iOS 2.18.0 and above, and is not available on Android devices.
Defining customer types for device-specific check-ins
To define permitted customer types for a specific mobile device:
- Click the gear icon in the Scanning view to navigate to Scan Settings.

- Click Allowed Customer Types.

- Set the All toggle to off. Once toggled off, all customer types in the company will be exposed in a list.
- Select the customer types you wish to permit.

- Navigate out of the Scan Settings menu and return to your Scanning view.
Note: New customer types will not be automatically added to your list of permitted customer types if Allow any Customer Type is toggled off.
Scanning tickets
In addition to defining your preferred customer types, ensure that the check-in mode is configured consistently across all mobile devices. If you are scanning tickets for a whole booking, all customer types in the booking must match the selected customer types.
Scanning an allowed customer type will successfully check the customer in. Scanning a customer type that does not match your selected customer types will show the following error message:

Note: This feature does not work in conjunction with offline mode.
